This guide includes step-by-step tutorials for using the different features offered by Canvas.
MyCloud is a UNCG service that offers access to much of the software used for academic and research purposes. You can review this list of software applications to learn what is and isn’t available via MyCloud.
Microsoft Office 365
Office 365 provides online access to Office applications (like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote) and other classroom tools.
- Google Drive: Google Drive is the file storage solution that comes with the Google suite of products. You can access Google Drive on your laptop at drive.uncg.edu. You can also download an app for your smart devices that will let you view your Google Drive.
- Calendar: Share calendars or create a joint calendar with members of your class or institution to keep track of schedules easily.
- Docs, Sheets, and Slides: Collaborate, share feedback and work together with your classmates in real time on documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
- Hangouts Meet: Connect with classmates virtually via secure video calls and messaging. You can create a video conference directly from a Google Calendar event.
Everyone with a UNCG account also has a Box account. The Library currently loads eReserves into Canvas courses through Box, so you may find you need to access Box for some of your course readings.
Webex includes a set of video conferencing tools for online collaboration. If your instructor plans to give online lectures, you’ll likely use Webex to participate. Webex meetings can also be set up and accessed from Canvas.
Zoom is another video conferencing option that allows for online collaboration. Similar to Webex and Hangouts Meet, you can set up and attend virtual meetings through Zoom’s web app or through Canvas.
